Famotidine 10 mg, Ca carbonate 800 mg, Mg hydroxide 165 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of heartburn associated w/ acid indigestion & hyperacidity.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 tab daily as needed. Max: 2 tab/day.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. Chew tab completely before swallowing.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Trouble or pain swallowing food, vomiting w/ blood or bloody black stools. Patients using other acid reducers; heartburn for >3 mth. Frequent chest or shoulder pain w/ shortness of breath, lightheadedness, sweating, or dizziness may occur. Stomach pain, nausea & vomiting & unexplained weight loss. Moderate (CrCl <50 mL/min) to severe (CrCl <10 mL/min) kidney disease.
Adverse Reactions
Famotidine: constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal & gas-related discomfort, decreased appetite, dry mouth, heartburn & loss of taste; skin reactions; headache, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, muscle weakness, seizures, insomnia, drowsiness, depression, confusion, disorientation, anxiety, decreased sexual desire, & hallucinations; kidney problems (eg, increased serum creatinine conc & abnormal amounts of protein in the urine) & liver disease (jaundice). Fever, HTN, flushing, muscle cramps, pain in the joints, tinnitus & community-acquired pneumonia. Antacids: Flatulence; Ca carbonate; high Ca & Mg levels in the blood in patients w/ kidney impairment; alkalosis.
Drug Interactions
May cause formation of complexes that are not absorbed w/ propranolol, INH, prednisolone, diflunisal & naproxen. Decreases absorption of tetracycline & Fe.
