Noradrenaline bitartrate
Emergency measure in BP restoration in cases of acute hypotension.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. Administer as diluted IV infusion. Initial dose: 2-3 mL/min. Ave maintenance dose: 0.5-1 mL/min.
Patients who are hypotensive from blood vol deficits except as emergency measure. Concomitant use of cyclopropane & halothane anesth. Patient w/ mesenteric or peripheral vascular thrombosis unless it is life-saving. Continuous administration in the absence of blood vol replacement; hypoxia or hypercarbia.
Special Precautions
Extravasation. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs or TCA. Hyperthyroidism.
Adverse Reactions
Bradycardia, arrhythmias; anxiety, transient headache. Plasma vol depletion (prolonged administration). Resp difficulty, ischemic injury. Extravasation, necrosis at inj site.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, TCA, cyclopropane & halothane anesth. Alkali & oxidizing agents, barbiturates, chlorpheniramine, chlorothiazide, nitrofurantoin, phenytoin, Na bicarbonate & iodide, streptomycin, sulfadiazine & sulfafurazole.
