Meloxicam
Indications/Uses
Pain & inflammation in rheumatic disease; short-term exacerbation of OA; ankylosing spondylitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
OA 7.5 mg once daily. May increase to 15 mg once daily. RA 15 mg once daily. Max: 15 mg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals if GI discomfort occurs.
Contraindications
CVA, MI, CABG, uncontrolled HTN, CHF NYHA II-IV. Bleeding disorders, previous or active peptic ulcer disease. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
History of allergy or development of asthma w/ ASA or other NSAIDs. Severe hepatic & end-stage renal failure. Liver cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome, hypovolemia, renal insufficiency. Elderly. Childn <15 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.
Drug Interactions
Cholestyramine, anticoagulants, ACE inhibitors.
