Dosage/Direction for Use
Melanov MR tab 30 Initially 30 mg once daily. Max: 120 mg daily. Melanov MR 60 tab 30-120 mg in a single intake at breakfast.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Ketoacidosis, severe infection, trauma & other severe conditions where sulfonylurea is unlikely to control hypoglycemia.
Special Precautions
Monitor blood glucose conc. Mild to moderate hepatic & renal impairment. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances eg, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, anorexia, diarrhoea, metallic taste, increased appetite, wt gain; skin rashes, pruritus & photosensitivity.
Drug Interactions
May diminish hypoglycemic effects w/ rifampicin & thiazide; adrenalin, aminoglutethimide, chlorpromazine, corticosteroids, diazoxide, OCs & rifamycins. Increased hypoglycemic effect w/ alcohol.
