Budesonide
Indications/Uses
Allergic & non-allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps & prevention of nasal polyps after polypectomy & reversal of allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >6 yr 1 spray into each nostril once daily. Adult max dose: 256 mcg daily. Childn <12 yr max dose: 128 mcg daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Recent sinus infection, nasal bleeding or surgery, active pulmonary TB.
Special Precautions
Adrenal suppression in high-dose long-term therapy. Monitor nasal passages periodically for mucosal changes in prolonged use. Clinical TB or asymptomatic M. tuberculosis infections of the resp tract, untreated fungal or bacterial infection & ocular herpes simplex or untreated systemic viral infections. Impaired growth in childn when given in high doses for long period.
Adverse Reactions
Mild irritations in the throat, cough, hoarseness, Candida infection in the oropharynx, skin reactions, urticaria, rash, dermatitis, facial skin irritations.
