Indications/Uses
For prevention & therapy of damages due to faulty or deficient protein metabolism in chronic renal insufficiency in connection w/ limited protein food of ≤40 g/day (for adult).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hypercalcemia. Disturbed amino acid metabolism.
Special Precautions
Monitor serum Ca level regularly.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
May cause or aggravate elevated serum Ca levels w/ Ca-containing drugs. Not to be taken w/drugs that form hardly soluble compds w/ Ca (eg, tetracyclines quinolones, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, drugs containing Fe, fluoride or estramustine) to avoid disturbed absorption; administer w/ at least 2 hr interval. May decrease serum phosphate levels w/ aluminum HCl.
