Concise Prescribing Info
Omed Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.; gastric & duodenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis. Omed 20 Conditions where inhibition of gastric acid secretion may be beneficial, including aspiration syndromes, dyspepsia, GERD, peptic ulcer disease & Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Omed inj Patient unable to take oral medication eg, severely ill patient w/ reflux esophagitis, duodenal or gastric ulcer 40 mg bolus once daily for up to 5 days. Omed 20 cap Acid related dyspepsia 10-20 mg daily for 2-4 wk. GERD 20 mg daily for 4-8 wk. Peptic ulcer 20 mg daily or 40 mg in severe case; 4 wk for duodenal ulcer & 8 wk for gastric ulcer. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 60 mg daily. Acid aspiration 40 mg in the evening before surgery & further 40 mg up to 6 hr pre-op.
Should be taken with food: Take immediately before a meal.
Special Precautions
Impaired liver function. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, skin rash. Constipation, abdominal pain, nausea & vomiting, flatulence. Pruritus & urticaria. Paresthesia, dizziness, lightheadedness & feeling faint. Headache.
Drug Interactions
Increased blood conc of diazepam, phenytoin & anticoagulants eg, warfarin. May reduce absorption of azole antifungals eg, itraconazole & ketoconazole. Atazanavir, cyclosporin, disulfiram, voriconazole, ampicillin, Fe supplement.
