Pantoprazole
Indications/Uses
Duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, moderate & severe reflux esophagitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
40 mg once daily. Max duration of treatment: 8 wk. Duodenal ulcer 40 mg once daily for 2-8 wk. If a wk period of treatment is not sufficient, healing will be achieved in almost all cases w/in a further 2 wk. Gastric ulcer 40 mg once daily for 2-8 wk. A 4-wk period is usually required but if not sufficient, healing will be achieved w/in a further 4 wk. Serious hepatic dysfunction Reduce to 20 mg/day.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Exclude the possibility of malignancy prior to treatment of gastric ulcer. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally headache or diarrhea.
