Paclitaxel
Indications/Uses
Treatment of primary ovarian cancer; advanced or metastatic breast cancer; non-small cell lung cancer (in combination w/ cisplatin or carboplatin).
Dosage/Direction for Use
After premed to prevent severe hypersensitivity reactions. 175 mg/m2 BSA by IV infusion over 3 hr & repeated after 21 days.
Contraindications
Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Monitor blood cell counts, vital signs. Severe hepatic dysfunction. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, myalgia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mucositis, alopecia, liver function test evaluation.
Drug Interactions
Administration of cisplatin prior to paclitaxel treatment leads to more profound myelosuppression. Ketoconazole inhibits metabolism of paclitaxel.
