Indications/Uses
Treatment of acute sinusitis, exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, CAP, UTI, skin & soft tissue infections. 750 mg Lower resp tract infections, skin infections, typhoid & paratyphoid fever, UTI. Prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis & surgical infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Usual dose: 500 mg once daily. Acute sinusitis 500 mg daily for 10-14 days. Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis 250-500 mg daily for 7-10 days. CAP 500 mg once or bid for 7-14 days. UTI 250 mg for 7-10 days (for 3 days in uncomplicated infections). Skin & soft tissue infections 250 mg daily or 500 mg once or bid for 7-14 days. 750 mg Adult Usual dose: 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Ensure adequate fluid intake.
Contraindications
Pregnancy & lactation. Childn, adolescents.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ epilepsy, history of CNS disorders, impaired hepatic or renal function, G6PD deficient or myasthenia gravis. Adequate fluid intake to avoid risk of crystalluria. Sun exposure. Tendon damage. MRSA infection. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia. Headache, dizziness & restlessness. Rash, pruritus.
