Indications/Uses
Type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by diet & exercise alone.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 40-80 mg once daily, to be adjusted according to glycemic control. Max: 320 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Type I diabetes, diabetes associated w/ ketosis. Patients undergoing surgery, after severe injury or during infection.
Special Precautions
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea & constipation, allergic skin reactions, blood disorders, disturbances in liver function.
Drug Interactions
Miconazole, chloramphenicol, coumarin anticoagulants, fluconazole, NSAIDs, phenylbutazone, rifamycin, sulfinpyrazone.
