Per 5 mL syr Dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg, guaifenesin 100 mg, alcohol 1.4%
Indications/Uses
Temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat & bronchial irritation as may occur w/ a cold. Expectorant action to help loosen phlegm & thin bronchial secretions to make cough more productive. Helps relieve chest congestion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult to childn 12 yr 10 mL every 6 hr. Childn 6 to <12 yr 5 mL every 6 hr. Do not exceed 4 doses in any 24-hr period. Childn 2 to <6 yr 2.5 mL/dose. Max: 10 mL daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients taking MAOI, SSRI or other medications for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease, or for 2 wk after stopping the medication. Childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Chronic cough eg, occurs w/ smoking or chronic lung disease eg, asthma or emphysema. Discontinue use if cough lasts >10 days, comes back or if it occurs w/ fever, rash or constant headaches. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Drug Interactions
Do not use if currently on or 2 wk after stopping the medications for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease eg, MAOI or SSRI.
