Pharmacology: Mode of Action: ROWACHOL increases biliary secretion, relieves spasm of the bile ducts and enhances metabolic liver function by reducing biliary stasis. By inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, endogenous cholesterol production is reduced, maintaining the bile above saturation level, assisting the dissolution of gallstones and preventing the precipitation of further stones. The choleresis produced by ROWACHOL increases insulin production, assisting in the control of diabetes.
Indicated for hepato-biliary complaints including cholelithiasis, cholecystitis,
biliary spasm, bile duct dyskinesia (reduction in the speed of emptying of the biliary tree/disturbance in the contraction of biliary duct), cholangitis, inflammatory hepatic
conditions.
Prevention of the recurrence of stone formation.
