Action
S-26 Low Birth Weight (LBW) is a Food for Special Medical Purposes to be used during hospital stay and after discharge for low birth weight or premature infants. It contains DHA (16 mg/100 mL serving) that may help support brain and visual development. It also has high protein level (3 g/100 mL serving) to support growth.

For the dietary management of infants with low birth weight and prematurity.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Use under medical supervision.
One scoop = 5.443 grams (approx.).
Mix 1 scoop of S-26® LBW to 30 mL (1 fl. oz.) of water.
Use only the enclosed scoop. Using more or less powder than indicated will either lead to dehydration or deprive the baby of proper nutrition.
Do not change proportions without medical advice.

Contraindications
S-26 LBW is not suitable for use in infants with diagnosed cow's milk protein allergy, lactose intolerance and metabolic congenital diseases such as galactosemia /glucose-galactose malabsorption.
S-26 LBW is suitable as the sole source of nutrition when breastfeeding is not possible.
Not intended for parenteral use.
Warnings
Breastmilk is the best for babies up to 2 years of age and beyond.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: There is no substitute for breastmilk.
Special Precautions
Infants six months onwards should be given fresh, indigenous and natural foods in combination with continued breastfeeding.
The use of infant formula must only be upon the advice of a health professional.
The unnecessary and improper use of this product may be dangerous to the child's health.
Caution For Usage
There is likelihood that pathogenic microorganisms will be in this product when it is prepared and used inappropriately.
HOW TO PREPARE S-26 LBW: WARNING: Unboiled water, unboiled bottles or incorrect dilution can make the baby ill. Incorrect storage, handling, preparation and feeding can potentially lead to adverse effects on the health of the baby.
1. Wash hands before preparing baby's formula.
2. Wash bottle, teat and cap thoroughly until no milk remains.
3. Boil for five minutes. Leave covered until use.
4. Boil drinking water for five minutes; allow to cool.
5. Consult feeding table, pour exact amount of lukewarm water into the bottle.
6. Use only the scoop from this container and level using inner rim.
7. Consult feeding table, add exact number of level scoops for age of baby.
8. After use, store the scoop on the suspension inside the can as shown.
9. Cap bottle and shake well until powder is fully dissolved.
10. Close can tightly after each use and store in a cool, dry place. Use within 3 weeks of opening.
Storage
Avoid prolonged storage at excessive temperatures.
Fill is by weight, not volume. Some settling of the powder may occur.
