Drug Interactions
Senpivac-Heavy (Spinal): There is an increase risk of myocardial depression when amide-type local anesthetics such as bupivacaine, lignocaine (lidocaine), or ropivacaine are administered concomitantly with antiarrythmics.
If local anesthetics containing adrenaline (epinephrine) are given for epidural or paracervical block during labour the use of an oxytocin drug post partum may lead to severe hypertension. Although there is no clinical evidence of dangerous interactions between adrenaline (epinephrine)-containing local anesthetics and MAOI's or tricyclic antidepressants, great care should nevertheless be taken to avoid inadvertent intravenous administration of the local anesthetic preparation.
