Bacitracin, polymyxin B sulfate, neomycin.
Each gram of ointment contains bacitracin 200 units, polymyxin B sulfate 4000 units and neomycin sulfate 3 mg in an inert petrolatum base.
Pharmacology: Trimycin provides potent antibacterial activity against practically the whole range of skin bacteria, including those resistant to other antibacterial agents. Upon application, its non-aqueous base forms a firm protective coating over the infected areas of the skin. This permits longer-lasting and greater contact of the active ingredients with the lesions, thus ensuring prompt control of skin infection.
Highly effective against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause skin infections eg, pyodermas, impetigo, erysipelas, decubitus ulcers and infected wounds.
Apply a thin layer over the affected area 1-3 times daily and cover with dry sterile dressing, or as prescribed by the physician.
It is recommended that the lesions be cleansed or washed only with plain soap and water before applying Trimycin.
