Indications/Uses
Suppresses the synthesis & secretion of cholesterol by the liver inhibits intestinal absorption of cholesterol. Dissolution of cholesterol-rich gallstones in patients w/ functioning gallbladders.

Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 cap every 8 hr.

Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Complete atresia of bile duct, radio opaque calcified gallstones, nonfunctional gallbladder, acute cholecystitis.

Special Precautions
Do not give in patients w/ intestinal & hepatic disorders. Avoid use during pregnancy.

Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting & other GI disturbances. Pruritus; calcification of cholesterol.

Drug Interactions
Bile cholesterol increasing drugs eg, oestrogenic hormones & cholesterol-lowering drug eg, clofibrate. Reduced effect w/ bile-acid binding drugs including antacids, charcoal & cholestyramine.
