Indications/Uses
HTN. Renal disease in hypertensive type II DM patients.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Initially 150 mg once daily, increased if necessary to 300 mg once daily. Renal disease in hypertensive type II DM patients Initially 150 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Tab: Hypersensitivity. FC tab: Patients w/ renal artery stenosis, abnormally low pressure, serious muscle damage leading to kidney failure, giant hives, decreased blood vol, hyperkalemia, muscle pain & tenderness w/ increased creatine kinase. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Tab: Patients whose renal function may depend on the activity of RAAS (eg, patients w/ severe CHF). Potential risk of oliguria & progressive azotemia & (rarely) acute renal failure. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. FC tab: Patients w/ vol-depletion & those receiving high-dose diuretic therapy. Monitor serum K conc especially in elderly. Avoid concomitant use w/ K-sparing diuretics. Renal & hepatic impairment. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, asthenia/fatigue, vertigo, dose-related orthostatic hypotension; impaired renal function; hyperkalemia, myalgia.
