Drospirenone 3 mg, ethinylestradiol 0.02 mg
OC. Treatment of moderate acne vulgaris & of PMDD. Dysmenorrhea in women who elect to use OC.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily for 28 consecutive days, followed by the next pack. Missed dose: Take the missed tab as soon as it is remembered & continue the medication.
May be taken with or without food.
DVT, pulmonary embolism, heart attack, stroke, angina pectoris; acute kidney or liver failure, migraine, DM, pancreatitis, jaundice; cancer that may grow under the influence of sex hormones; unexplained vag bleeding, hypersensitivity. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Circulatory disorders; tumors; smoking; diabetes; obesity; superficial phlebitis, varicose veins; +ve family history (venous or arterial) thromboembolism ever in a sibling or parent at a relatively early age); epilepsy; renal insufficiency; hypertriglyceridemia or a family history thereof; HTN; liver &/or gall bladder disease; Crohn's disease, systemic lupus erythematosus; hemolytic uremic syndrome; sickle cell disease; hearing loss; porphyria; herpes gestationis, Sydenham's chorea, chloasma, hereditary angioedema.
Adverse Reactions
Contact lens intolerance, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hypersensitivity, fluid retention, wt gain/loss, headache, migraine, increased/decreased libido, depressed or altered mood, breast tenderness, pain, hypertrophy, breast/vag discharge, rash, urticaria, erythema nodosum/multiforme.
Drug Interactions
Phenytoin, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine, rifampicin, oxcarbazepine, topiramate, felbamate, ritonavir, topiramate, felbamate, ritonavir, griseofulvin, products containing St. John wort, penicillins, tetracyclines, cyclosporine, drugs that increase serum K levels.
