Clinical manifestations of urate/uric acid deposition eg, idiopathic gout, uric acid lithiasis; gouty arthritis, skin tophi &/or renal involvement, hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase, including Lesch-Nyhan syndrome; glucose-6-phosphatase including glycogen storage disease; phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase; phosphoribosylpyrophosphate aminotransferase; adenine phosphoribosyltransferase. Management of 2,8-dihydroxyadenine renal stones related to deficient activity of adenine phosphoribosyltransferase. Management of recurrent mixed Ca oxalate renal stones in the presence of hyperuricosuria, when fluid, dietary & similar measures have failed.
Hepatic or renal impairment (reduce dose). Initiate therapy after acute gout attack has subsided. Malignant diseases & its treatment, Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. Possibility of impaction of uric acid renal stones. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
