Why do I need this medicine?
Betamethasone and Neomycin are combined in this medicine.

This medicine is used to treat inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems when there may also be a risk for bacterial infection.
How do I use this medicine?
Apply Betamethasone + Neomycin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not apply more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine is available as a cream or ointment.

To use the cream or ointment, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Clean and dry affected area before application.
  3. Rub the cream or ointment gently on the skin until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
  4. Wash your hands after using.
  5. Replace the cap of the tube.
The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your response to the medication.

If your symptoms do not improve after 7 days, inform your doctor.

Do not use this medicine for a long time or over a large area of the body.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you often forget to apply your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not use Betamethasone + Neomycin if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or any of its ingredients.

Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • pimples
  • itching around the anal or genital area
  • spotty red rash around the mouth
  • severe flushing of the skin on and around the nose
  • viral infection e.g. chickenpox, cold sores
  • skin blisters or sores that are caused by infections
  • fungal infections e.g. thrush, athletes’ foot
  • outer ear infection
as this medicine may not be suitable for you.

Do not give this medicine to children below 2 years old unless instructed to do so by the doctor.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • psoriasis (a type of skin disease that allows the skin cells to rapidly build up causing itchy patches of thick, red skin and silvery scales)
  • kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Betamethasone + Neomycin to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects.

Do not smoke or go near naked flames due to the risk of severe burns. Fabrics (e.g. dressing, clothing, bedding) that has been in contact with this medicine must be washed to reduce product build-up or risk of any serious fire hazards.
What side effects could I experience?
Betamethasone + Neomycin may cause any of the following side effects: burning, irritation, or itching of the skin, increased hair growth, changes in skin colour, thinning of the skin, weight gain, and rounding of the face.

If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor if you are using any other creams or ointments on the affected area.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
