Indications/Uses
Fever; muscle, joint, soft tissue pain & inflammation; headache, dental & menstrual pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr (weighing ≥40 kg) Initially 20 mL; 10-20 mL every 4 hr when needed. Max: 60 mL in 24 hr. Childn 8-12 yr (weighing 25-40 kg) 10 mL tds-qds, 3-7 yr (weighing 14.5-25 kg) 5 mL tds-qds, 1-2 yr (weighing 10-14.5 kg) 2.5 mL tds-qds, 6-12 mth (weighing 7-10 kg) 2.5 mL tds.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take w/ food to avoid GI discomfort. May be taken on an empty stomach for faster onset of action.
Contraindications
Allergy to aspirin, ibuprofen, other NSAIDs; worsening asthma; severe heart, liver or kidney failure; stomach bleeding, perforation or ulcer; increased risk of bleeding. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Increased risk of heart attack or stroke in high doses (2,400 mg daily) or prolonged treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose & duration. Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency. Patients w/ diabetes. History of GI bleeding & perforation. Asthma, chronic rhinitis, heart, liver or kidney diseases, heart failure, uncontrolled high BP, dehydration. Concomitant use w/ drugs for high BP, heart diseases & blood thinners. Can mask symptoms of underlying infections.
Adverse Reactions
Stomach irritation including discomfort, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation & bloating.
