Indications/Uses
RA, OA & allied conditions, non-articular rheumatism & soft tissue injuries. Relief of mild to moderate pain (eg, dysmenorrhoea, dental & post-op pain, migraine headache); fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr (weighing ≥40 kg) 20 mL initially. 10-20mL may be taken every 4 r when needed. Do not take more than 60 mL (1,200 mg) in 24 hr. Childn 8-12 yr (weighing 25-40 kg) 10 mL tds-qds, 3-7 yr (weighing 14.5-25 kg) 5 mL tds-qds, 1-2 yr (weighing 10-14.5 kg) 2.5 mL tds-qds, 6-12 mth (weighing 7-10 kg) 2.5 mL tds.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take w/ food to avoid GI discomfort. May be taken on an empty stomach for faster onset of action.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aspirin, ibuprofen & other NSAIDs. Patients w/ worsening asthma, allergic rash after ibuprofen, aspirin or other NSAIDs, severe heart, liver or kidney failure, stomach bleeding, perforation or ulcer, increased risk of bleeding. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Prolonged treatment. Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency. Diabetes. History of GI bleeding & perforation. Asthma, chronic rhinitis, heart, liver or kidney diseases, heart failure, uncontrolled high BP (HBP), dehydration. Concomitant treatment w/ medications for HBP, heart diseases & blood thinners. May mask symptoms of underlying infections. Bloody/black tarry/pale stools, vomiting blood/black particles, unexpected wheezing, shortness of breath, skin rash, itching, bruising, racing heart, fluid retention (swollen ankles or passing less urine), stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, disorientation, unexplained stomachache, indigestion, heartburn, tiredness or more frequent infections (eg, colds), eyes yellowing. Long term treatment in pregnant.
Adverse Reactions
Stomach irritation (eg, discomfort, nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation & bloating), photosensitivity.
