It is active against P. aeruginosa (which can be enhanced by aminoglycosides) but no significant activity against other gram-negative bacteria. Gram-positive bacteria and anaerobes are not very susceptible. It is also stable to hydrolysis by many β-lactamases.
Pharmacokinetics:
Distribution: Up to 30% bound to plasma proteins.
Excretion: Plasma half-life of about 1.6 hr; prolonged in renal impairment. Mainly excreted via urine.
