Clobetasol propionate
Indications/Uses
Cream/oint: Short-term treatment of inflammatory & pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Scalp application: Psoriasis & recalcitrant eczema of scalp.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply sparingly on affected areas once-bd.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Cream/Oint: Rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, primary cutaneous viral infections (eg, herpes simplex, chicken pox). Primary infected skin lesions caused by infection w/ fungi or bacteria (eg, impetigo), perianal & genital pruritus. Scalp application: Scalp infections, dermatoses including dermatitis in childn <1 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if irritation or sensitivity develops. Avoid extensive or prolonged use. Not for ophth use. Pregnancy & lactation. Paed patients.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae & miliaria. Hyperactivity of the adrenal cortex (in large doses).
