Description
Cozaar XQ: COZAAR XQ contains losartan potassium and amlodipine camsylate.
Active Ingredients:
5/50 mg tablets: COZAAR XQ is supplied as a white, modified capsule shaped, film-coated tablet containing 7.84 mg amlodipine camsylate (equivalent to 5 mg amlodipine) and 50 mg of losartan potassium.
5/100 mg tablets: COZAAR XQ is supplied as a pink, modified capsule shaped, film-coated tablet containing 7.84 mg amlodipine camsylate (equivalent to 5 mg amlodipine) and 100 mg losartan potassium.
Losartan potassium: Losartan potassium is a white to off-white free-flowing crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 461.01. It is freely soluble in water, soluble in alcohols, and slightly soluble in common organic solvents, such as acetonitrile and methyl ethyl ketone.
Oxidation of the 5-hydroxymethyl group on the imidazole ring results in the active metabolite of losartan.
Losartan potassium, a non-peptide molecule, is chemically described as 2-butyl-4-chloro-1-[[2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl]methyl]-1H-imidazole-5-methanol monopotassium salt.
Its empirical formula is C22H22ClKN6O.
Amlodipine camsylate: Amlodipine camsylate is a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 641.17. It is freely soluble in chloroform, dimethylformamide and dimethylsulfoxide and slightly soluble in water, ethanol and methylenechloride.
Amlodipine camsylate is chemically described as 3-ethyl 5-methyl (4RS)-2-[(2-aminoethoxy)methyl]-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate camphor sulfonate.
Its empirical formula is C20H25ClN2O5·C10H16O4S.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: butylated hydroxytoluene, sodium starch glycolate, microcrystalline cellulose, D-mannitol, povidone, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, hydroxypropylcellulose, titanium oxide, and talc.
COZAAR XQ 5/100 mg tablets also contain iron oxide red and iron oxide yellow.
