Concise Prescribing Info
Per tab Triprolidine HCl 2.5 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg. Per 5 mL syr Triprolidine HCl 1.25 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg
Nasal & resp congestion, common cold, acute sinusitis & allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
FC tab Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 tab tds. Syr Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL tds. Childn 6-12 yr 5 mL tds, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL tds.
May be taken with or without food.
Hypersensitivity to pseudoephedrine or sympathomimetic amines. Patients taking MAOIs. Severe HTN & CAD.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ increased IOP, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal & bladder neck obstruction, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, HTN, DM, ischemic heart disease & hyperthyroidism. Gallbladder disease or gallstones, resp impairment, cardiac arrhythmias, history of bronchial asthma, prostatic hypertrophy or urethral stricture. Patients known to be taking other antihistamines or decongestant prep. Patients engaging in activities requiring mental alertness. Not to be used by persons intolerant to sympathomimetics used for the relief of nasal or sinus congestion. May cause drowsiness; do not drive or operate machinery. Severe renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for childn <2 yr. Elderly & debilitated patients.
Adverse Reactions
Dryness of mouth, nose & throat; sedation, sleepiness, dizziness, disturbed coordination.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ other sympathomimetics (eg, decongestants, TCAs & amphetamine-like psychostimulants or MAOIs) may occasionally cause rise in BP. May diminish the antihypertensive effects of guanethidine, bethanidine, methyldopa & reserpine.
