Each tablet contains 100mg of Metoprolol tartrate.
Arterial hypertension, angina pectoris.
Hypertension: Starting dose is 100mg daily and can be increased by 100mg per day at weekly intervals up to 400mg taken as a single dose.
If control is not achieved on the single daily dose basis the daily requirement should be taken in two doses (morning and evening) and addition to the treatment of a diuretic or another antihypertensive agent may be considered.
Angina: 50-100mg twice or three times daily.
AV-block or digitalis refractory heart failure.
In labile, insulin-dependent diabetes, therapy may need adjustment.
Use of all β-blockers should be reported to the anaesthetist. Digitalization may be necessary for patients with poor cardiac reserve.
Although Metoprolol is a selective β-blocker and has proved safe to a large number of asthmatics care should be exercised with this group of patients.
These are mild and infrequent and include lassitude and disturbances of sleep pattern.
Metoprolol Tartrate interacts with anesthetics, Antidiabetic agents - oral or insulin, Antihypertensives, Diuretics, Antiinflammatory analgesics, nonsteroidal (NSAID), Calcium Channel blocking agents. Cimetidine, Clonidine Diazoxide, Digitalis Glycosides Lidocaine, Nicotine, Phenothiazines, Reserpine, Sympathomimetics, Timolol and Xanthines.
