Bromhexine hydrochloride.
Description
Each 15 mL contains: Bromhexine hydrochloride 12mg.
Indications/Uses
Bromhexine hydrochloride is an effective oral mucolytic agent. It thins and loosens phlegm thereby helping to clear the chest.
Helps clear chest congestion.
Breaks down & thins phlegm.
Relieves chesty cough.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children over 12 years: 15mL three times daily.
Children 6 to 12 years: 5mL to 10mL three times daily.
Children 2 to 5 years: 2mL to 5mL three times daily.
Under 2 years: Consult a doctor.
Special Precautions
Do not take if the patient is allergic to bromhexine or any of the other ingredients present in the cough liquid.
Use in Pregnancy: Seek doctor's advice if the patient is pregnant or likely to become pregnant during the course of medication.
Use in Lactation: Seek doctor's advice if breastfeeding or likely to breastfeed during the course of medication as bromhexine hydrochloride is expected to be secreted in the breast milk.

Adverse Reactions
Gastrointestinal side effects which may occur occasionally with bromhexine includes nausea, diarrhoea, indigestion and abdominal fullness. Other side effects which occur rarely include headache, dizziness, perspiration, skin rash and difficulty in breathing. DURO-TUSS Chesty Cough Liquid contains sorbitol, which may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea in some people. Tell a doctor or pharmacist if the patient experiences any of the previously mentioned side effects or should the patient notices anything unusual, during or after taking DURO-TUSS Chesty Cough Liquid. Unexpected side effects not listed previously can occur.
