21 yellow tab each containing Cyproterone acetate 2 mg, ethinylestradiol 0.035 mg, plus 7 inactive tab
Treatment of androgen-dependent diseases in women eg, acne, androgenic alopecia, mild hirsutism. Also indicated as OC in women requiring treatment for these androgen-dependent diseases. Treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily beginning on the 1st day of bleeding. Start in the red section, taking the tab from the pocket marked w/ the correct day of the wk, take the yellow active tab until all 21 tab have been taken. Continue w/ the white inactive tab. Repeat the course w/o stopping.
May be taken with or without food: Take at the same time each day if possible.
Venous or arterial thrombosis, prodromi for a thrombosis, DM w/ vascular involvement, risk factors for venous or arterial thrombosis, severe hepatic disease, benign or malignant liver tumours, hormone-dependent genital or breast cancer, undiagnosed vag bleeding. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Circulatory disorders or predisposition to it, tumours, hypertriglyceridemia. Monitor BP & hepatic function regularly. Not recommended solely for OC.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, breakthrough bleeding, breast tenderness, changes in menstrual flow, changes in cervical erosion & cervical secretions, amenorrhoea during & after treatment, anovulation post-treatment, allergic rash, photosensitivity, intolerance to contact lenses, alopecia, erythema multiforme, erythema nodosum, haemorrhagic eruption, headache, depressive moods, migraine, dizziness, drowsiness. Changes in appetite, body wt & libido.
Drug Interactions
Hydantoins, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine, rifampicin, antibiotics.
ATC Classification
G03HB01 - cyproterone and estrogen ; Belongs to the class of antiandrogen preparations in combination with estrogens. Used to counter androgenic activities.
