Prophylaxis & treatment of venous thrombosis therapy, pulmonary embolism in atrial fibrillation, peripheral arterial embolism. Prevention of post-op DVT & pulmonary embolism in major abdominothoracic surgery. Diagnosis & treatment of acute & chronic consumptive coagulopathies. Prevention of clotting in arterial & cardiac surgery. Prophylaxis of cerebral thrombosis by cerebral hemorrhage. Anticoagulant in blood transfusions, extracorporeal circulation, dialysis procedures & in blood samples for laboratory purposes. Arthrosclerosis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Blood dialysis: General heparination Before dialysis, 1,000-5,000 u; after dialysis, 1,000-1,500 u/hr continuously or intermittently. Local heparination 1,500-2,500 u/hr continuously. Blood perfusion by heart-lung machine 150-300 u/kg. Continuous IV therapy 1,000-3,000 u. Intermittent IV therapy 10,000 u then 5,000-10,000 u 4-6 hrly. SC therapy Initially 10,000-20,000 u or 8,000-10,000 u 8 hrly or 15,000-20,000 u 12 hrly. Anticoagulation in blood transfusions & blood samples 400-500 u.
Uncontrollable active bleeding state. Unsuitable blood coagulation time, neonate, immature infant.
Special Precautions
Administer very slowly. Monitor thrombocyte count. Patients w/ increased risk of haemorrhage. Impaired renal function, haemorrhage after use of this drug, consumption coagulopathy, catarrh-inserted patients. Pregnancy (late trimester).
Adverse Reactions
Pruritis, urticaria, fever, chill, rhinitis, asthma, lachrymation, thrombocytopaenia, alopecia areata, leucoderma, local painful haematoma by SC or IM inj, GOP/GPT elevation, suppression of renal reaction, rebound hyperlipidaemia, osteoporosis (long-term administration).
Drug Interactions
Effect potentiated by anticoagulants, salicylic acid derivatives, anti-inflammatory enzymes, dipyridamole. Effect antagonized by antihistamines, ascorbic acid, cardiotonic glycosides, tetracycline, phenothiazine derivatives.
