Japanese encephalitis vaccine (inactivated, adsorbed)
Active immunization against Japanese encephalitis in adults, adolescent, childn & infants ≥2 mth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult Primary: Initially 0.5 mL at day 0, followed by a 2nd dose after 28 days. Booster Dose: 0.5 mL w/in the 2nd yr (12-24 mth). Childn & adolescents 3 to <18 yr Primary: Initially 0.5 mL at day 0 followed by a 2nd dose 28 days after 1st dose. Childn 2 mth to <3 yr Primary: Initially 0.25 mL at day 0 followed by a 2nd dose 28 days after 1st dose.
Hypersensitivity to Japanese encephalitis vaccine or to any residues (eg, protamine sulphate, formaldehyde, bovine serum albumin, host cell DNA, Na metabisulphite, host cell protein). Postpone administration in patients w/ acute severe febrile conditions.
Special Precautions
Do not administer intravascularly. Not to be administered as IM to patients w/ thrombocytopenia, haemophilia or other bleeding disorders. Patients on immunosuppressive therapy or w/ immunodeficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 mth.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; myalgia; inj site pain, tenderness. Nausea; fatigue, influenza-like illness, pyrexia, inj site reactions (eg, redness, hardening, swelling, itching).
Drug Interactions
May not obtain adequate immune response w/ immunosuppressive therapy.
