Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of RA & acute exacerbations of OA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
RA 15 mg daily. Acute exacerbations of OA 7.5 mg daily. May be increased to 15 mg daily in severe cases.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals if GI discomfort occurs.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to NSAIDs or aspirin. Severe hepatic or renal failure, asthma, active peptic ulcer or history of recurrent PUD, GI or cerebrovascular bleeding & other bleeding disorders. Childn <15 yr.
Special Precautions
Prolonged administration. History of GI disease, coagulopathy. HTN or cardiac conditions aggravated by fluid retention & oedema. History of renal &/or hepatic dysfunction. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, occult GI bleeding, leukopenia, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, stomatitis, pruritus, urticaria, photosensitization, skin rash, interstitial nephritis, glomerulonephritis, renal medullary necrosis or nephrotic syndrome, disturbances of lab tests, oedema, palpitations, flushing, headache, vertigo, tinnitus, drowsiness, lightheadedness, transient disturbance of liver function tests, onset of asthma attack.
Drug Interactions
Anticoagulants, antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, methotrexate, cholestyramine, cyclosporin, antidiabetic agents, IUDs.
