Indications/Uses
Insomnia due to stress & worry. Epilepsy (including infantile spasms).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Hypnosis Adult 5-10 mg at bedtime. Max: 20 mg at bedtime. Elderly 2.5-5 mg at bedtime. Chronic epilepsy 0.5 mg/kg/day. Childn Infantile spasms w/ hypsarrhythmia ≥7 yr Max: 5 mg/day, 1-6 yr Max: 2.5 mg/day. Chronic epilepsy 1 mg/kg/day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Acute narrow-angle glaucoma; myasthenia gravis; shock; severe psychoses; severe COPD.
Special Precautions
May produce physical & psychological dependence, amnesia. Decreased hepatic or renal function; obstructive lung disease or resp failure. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly. Long-term use.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, muscle weakness, fatigue.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced effects of alcohol, barbiturates, antihistamines, phenothiazines, opiates & other CNS depressants. Potentiates effects of phenytoin.

N05CD02 - nitrazepam ; Belongs to the class of benzodiazepine derivatives. Used as hypnotics and sedatives.
