Why do I need this medicine?
Terbinafine is used to treat fungal infections of the fingernails, toenails and skin.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Terbinafine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more than instructed by your doctor.

Take this medicine at regular intervals as instructed. You may take it with or without a meal.

Terbinafine is available in tablet and granules.

If you have been given granules sprinkle on a spoonful of pudding or other soft, non -acidic food (e.g. mashed potatoes); swallow entire spoonful without chewing. Do not mix the granules with applesauce or other fruit-based foods.

You may need to take this medicine for some time before the full benefits can be felt. Continue to take Terbinafine even when you feel better and do not stop taking unless advised by the doctor to do so.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you ever had an allergic reaction (breathlessness, rashes, swollen eyes) to Terbinafine.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:

- liver disease
- kidney disease
- skin disease
- systemic lupus erythematosus (also known as SLE or lupus)

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Maintain good hygiene as this is important in managing fungal infections.
What side effects could I experience?
Terbinafine may cause problems with your eyesight, such as blurring. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activities in which you need to see clearly.

Other side effects include any of the following: headache, vomiting, cough, fever, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach discomfort or pain, unusual taste in the mouth, rashes and itch.

If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop the medicine and inform your doctor quickly. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:

- medicines for high blood pressure or heart disease e.g. atenolol, bisoprolol, propanolol, metoprolol, flecainide, propafenone
- medicines for mood disorder e.g. amitriptyline, citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, imipramine, nortriptyline, paroxetine, sertraline
- rifampicin (a medicine used to treat tuberculosis)
- cimetidine (a gastric medicine)
-fluconazole (other medicines for fungal infections)

This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Terbinafine.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from light.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
