Contents
Per cap 20 Tegafur 20 mg, gimeracil 5.8 mg, oteracil K 19.6 mg. Per cap 25 Tegafur 25 mg, gimeracil 7.25 mg, oteracil K 24.5 mg
Indications/Uses
Post-op adjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced [stage II (excluding T1), IIIA or IIIB] gastric cancer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult <1.25 m2 BSA Initially 40 mg; 1.25-≤1.5 m2 BSA Initially 50 mg; ≥1.5 m2 BSA Initially 60 mg. All doses are to be taken bd, for 28 consecutive days followed by a 14-day rest.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take after breakfast & evening meals.
Contraindications
Severe bone marrow depression, renal & hepatic disorder. Treatment w/ other fluoropyrimidine-group anticancer drugs (including combination therapies) & flucytosine. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Bone marrow depression, renal & hepatic disorder; infectious disease, abnormal glucose tolerance; current or previous history of interstitial pneumonia & heart disease; GI ulcer or hemorrhage. Varicella. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Leukopenia, decreased Hb, thrombocytopenia, decreased neutrophil count; increased AST/ALT, bilirubin & creatinine; glycosuria, stomatitis, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, rash, pigmentation, lacrimation, taste abnormality, dizziness, decreased wt, pyrexia, nasopharyngitis & fatigue.
Drug Interactions
Fluoropyrimidine-group anticancer drugs eg, fluorouracil, tegafur/uracil, tegafur alone, doxifluridine, capecitabine & carmofur. Combination therapy w/ folinate & uracil & levofolinate & fluorouracil. Fluoropyrimidine-group antifungal agent ie, flucytosine.
