Salmonella typhi (Ty 2 strain) polysaccharides
Prevention of typhoid fever in adults & childn >2 yr & especially travellers to endemic areas, migrants, healthcare professionals & military personnel.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM or SC 0.5 mL as single inj. If exposure to risk continues, perform re-vaccination every 3 yr.
Hypersensitivity to Salmonella typhi polysaccharides, formaldehyde, or casein. Postpone vaccination in case of acute febrile disease.
Special Precautions
Do not inject intravascularly. Possible anaphylactic reaction following vaccination. Possible syncope especially in adolescents; may be accompanied by several neurological signs (eg, transient sight disorders, paraesthesia & tonic-clonic limb movements). No protection against Salmonella paratyphi A or B or non-typhoidal salmonella. Immunogenicity may be reduced in patients taking immunosuppresive treatment or immunodeficiency. Perform SC route in patients w/ thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders. Pregnancy & lactation. Not indicated in childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Myalgia, inj site pain. Malaise, fatigue/asthenia; cephalalgia, inj site erythema, inj site swelling/oedema/induration. Fever.
