Indications/Uses
Adjuvant therapy for patients w/ abnormal, viscid or inspissated mucous secretion in acute & chronic resp tract infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Sachet Adult Acute 200 mg tid for 5-10 days. Chronic 200 mg tid for 6 mth. Childn 2-6 yr 200 mg bid for 5-10 days, ≤2 yr 200 mg/day. Amp Topical use: 1 amp once-bid by using glass or plastic aerosol apparatus or through endobronchial instillation. Systemic use: Adult 1 amp by deep IM once-bid. Childn ½ adult dose. Antidote in acetaminophen poisoning Initially IV infusion of 150 mg/kg over 15 min; maintenance: 50 mg/kg over 4 hr followed by 100 mg/kg over 16 hr.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Dissolve in water before taking.
Special Precautions
Asthmatic patients, elderly w/ severe resp insufficiency.
Adverse Reactions
Stomatitis, nausea, vomiting, fever, rhinorrhea, drowsiness, urticaria, chest tightness, bronchoconstriction.
