Per 500 mL Amino acid 40 g (8% w/v), 35.5% w/w branched-chain amino acid (l-isoleucine 4.5 g, l-leucine 5.5 g, l-valine 4.2 g), low aromatic amino acid (l-phenylalanine 0.5 g, l-tryptophan 0.35 g & no tyrosine), Fischer's ratio (BCAA/Phenylalanine & tyrosine) 37.05
Indications/Uses
Treatment of patients w/ acute & chronic liver insufficiency or hepatic encephalopathy & as nutritional support for patients w/ these liver diseases.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5-1 L/day via peripheral or central vein. As a source of protein for patient on parenteral nutrition.
Contraindications
Severe renal disorder; abnormal amino acid metabolism other than hepatic disorders.
Special Precautions
Severe acidosis; CHF. Use w/ electrolyte soln & administration of the soln in large doses require careful supervision of electrolyte balance.
Adverse Reactions
Occasional GI upsets, chills, fever, headache, chest discomfort & palpitations, vascular pain; acidosis.
