Ferric hydroxide sucrose complex (equiv to Fe 20 mg)
Indications/Uses
Fe deficiency in patients who cannot tolerate oral therapy or in active inflammatory bowel disease where oral Fe prep are ineffective or non-compliant.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-2 amp/time (100 mg/5 mL amp) 2-3 times wkly. Max: 7 mg/kg as Fe (0.35 mL inj) infuse over 3½ hr. Childn 3 mg/kg as Fe (0.15 mL inj). 
Contraindications
Fe overload & anemia not caused by Fe deficiency.
Special Precautions
Fe overload. Non-oral Fe may cause allergy & anaphylaxis reaction.
Adverse Reactions
Hypotension, chest pain, muscle cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, urticaria, pruritus, dyspnea, dizziness, fever.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ oral Fe prep.

B03AB04 - ferric hydroxide ; Belongs to the class of oral iron trivalent preparations. Used in the treatment of anemia.
