Hyoscine-N-butylbromide
Indications/Uses
Condition associated w/ visceral spasm.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >6 yr 1-2 tab or 10-20 mL tid to 5 times daily, 1-6 yr 5-10 mL tid. Infant 2.5 mL tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Patients w/ prostatic enlargement, urinary retention, paralytic ileus or stenosis, closed-angle glaucoma.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy & lactation. Impaired metabolic, liver or kidney function. Patients especially for childn w/ fever, elderly & conditions characterised by tachycardia, debilitated patients w/ COPD.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth, mydriasis, cycloplegia, bradycardia, palpitations, constipation, urinary hesitancy & retention.
Drug Interactions
Potentiated by antihistamines, INH, MAOIs, quinidine, TCAs, amantadine. Decreased by levodopa.
