Propranolol HCl
Indications/Uses
Cardiac arrhythmias, HTN, angina pectoris, relief of catecholamine provoked tremor & anxiety.
Dosage/Direction for Use
10-40 mg tid-qid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Obstructive airways disease, metabolic acidosis, sinus bradycardia, partial heart block, uncompensated heart failure, pheochromocytoma w/o α-adrenoceptor blocker therapy.
Special Precautions
DM; hyperthyroidism; cardiac depressants, anesth; w/drawal.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances; fatigue; dizziness; CV effects; depression; disturbed sleep & vision; bronchospasm. Rarely, blood disorders, skin rashes.
Drug Interactions
May enhance effect of other myocardial depressants, Ca antagonists, hypoglycemics. Effects diminished by isoprenaline. Peripheral vasoconstrictor effect enhanced by adrenaline & noradrenaline. Effects enhanced by adrenergic neurone blockers & catecholamine depleters.
