Cefamandole
Indications/Uses
Infection of resp tract, GUT, bone & joint, & skin & soft tissue, peritonitis, septicaemia, cholecystitis due to susceptible microorganism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 0.5-2 g 4-8 hrly. Childn 50-100 mg/kg body wt/day.
Contraindications
Previous hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Penicillin-allergic patients. Renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, hypersensitivity. Rarely, hypoprothrombinemia, thrombocytopenia, superinfections, pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis.
Drug Interactions
Alcohol intolerance may occur. Anticoagulant. Nephrotoxic antibiotics. Probenecid.
