Ciprofloxacin
Indications/Uses
Treatment of infections of the resp tract, GUT, GIT, skin & soft tissue.
Dosage/Direction for Use
250-750 mg bid. Acute gonorrhea or acute uncomplicated UTI 250 mg as a single dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to minimise GI discomfort. Do not take w/ antacids, Fe or dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Childn, adolescent, pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Epilepsy, CNS damage, hepatic or renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbance, dizziness, headache, skin reaction, tiredness, muscular weakness. Rarely, convulsion, photosensitivity.
Drug Interactions
Antacids, Ca-containing products, theophylline, oral anticoagulants, phenytoin, NSAIDs.
