Indications/Uses
Infections due to dicloxacillin susceptible organisms & penicillinase-producing pathogens eg, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, otitis media, furuncle, osteomyelitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 500 mg 6 hrly.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin.
Special Precautions
Infants & elderly. Renal impairment. Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Adverse Reactions
Rashes, fever, urticaria, pruritus, anaphylaxis. GI disturbances, glossitis, stomatitis, convulsions, coagulation & blood disorders, superinfections.
Drug Interactions
Probenecid, aspirin, phenylbutazone, indomethacin prolong plasma t½ of benzylpenicillin.
