Contents
Per 5 mL Brompheniramine maleate 2 mg, phenylephrine HCl 5 mg
Indications/Uses
For antihistaminic & nasal decongestion of rhinitis, asthma, hay fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL. Childn 6-12 yr 7.5 mL, 4-6 yr 5 mL, 2-4 yr 4 mL. All doses to be taken tid. Consult a doctor before use in childn <6 yr. Do not exceed 4 doses in 24-hr period.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hyperthyroidism; HTN, coronary disease. Concurrent use or use w/in 2 wk of MAOIs. Difficulty urinating due to prostate enlargement or bladder obstruction. Lower resp tract disease, brain damage, epilepsy. Pregnancy, lactation, newborn or premature infants.
Special Precautions
Glaucoma; asthma, cardiac disease; diabetes; pregnancy, lactation. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Large doses may precipitate seizures in epileptics.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions; severe HTN; drowsiness, lassitude, nausea, giddiness; dry mouth; mydriasis; increased irritability or excitement. Restlessness, nervousness, insomnia.
Drug Interactions
Actions prolonged by MAOIs. Potentiates effects of other CNS depressants. Atropine-like effects potentiated by other anticholinergics & TCAs.
