Dopamine HCl
Indications/Uses
Shock (cardiogenic, including shock due to infarction, post-op, toxic & anaphylactic). Severe hypotension & pre-shock. Imminent acute failure states in chronic cardiac & renal diseases. Treatment of acute intoxication w/ antiarrhythmic agents or barbiturates, carbromal & other substances. Activating or supporting diuretic measures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV administration. Ave dose: 3 mcg/min/kg body wt.
Contraindications
Shock w/ hypovolaemia, pheochromocytoma, tachyarrhythmias.
Special Precautions
CV diseases, DM, closed-angle glaucoma, halogenated hydrocarbon anesth.
Adverse Reactions
Occasional slight nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Effect may be potentiated by MAOIs.
