Concise Prescribing Info
Per mL Travoprost 40 mcg, timolol maleate 5 mg
Decrease IOP in open-angle glaucoma or ocular HTN when topical β-blockers or prostaglandin analogues are insufficient.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) once daily in the morning or evening. Administer at the same time each day.
Bronchial asthma, severe COPD, sinus bradycardia; 2nd or 3rd degree AV block; overt cardiac failure or cardiogenic shock; severe allergic rhinitis & bronchial hyperreactivity; corneal dystrophies. Hypersensitivity to other β-blockers.
Special Precautions
Control of cardiac failure prior to therapy. History of severe cardiac disease. Asthma. Spontaneous hypoglycaemia or diabetic patients especially w/ labile diabetes. May mask the signs & symptoms of acute hypoglycaemia & hyperthyroidism. May worsen Prinzmetal angina, severe peripheral & central circulatory disorders, hypotension. History of atopy or severe anaphylactic reaction to a variety of allergens. Possible permanent change in eye colour. May gradually change eyelashes in the treated eye. Aphakia or pseudophakia w/ torn posterior lens capsule or anterior chamber lenses. Known risk factor for cystoid macular oedema, iritis/uveitis. Remove contact lenses prior to application & reinsert 15 min after instillation. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Women of childbearing potential. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescent <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Eye pain, irritation, dryness & pruritus; foreign body sensation in the eye; conjunctival & ocular hyperaemia; nervousness, dizziness, headache, other eye disorders; irregular & decreased heart rate; increased/decreased BP; bronchospasm, urticaria, skin periocular hyperpigmentation, pain in extremity.
Drug Interactions
Oral Ca channel blockers, guanethidine or β-blockers, antiarrhythmics, digitalis glycosides, parasympathomimetics, antidiabetics. β-blockers potentiate hypertensive reaction to clonidine w/drawal.
