Levocetirizine diHCl
Indications/Uses
Seasonal, perennial & persistent allergic rhinitis; chronic urticaria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine diHCl or cetirizine. Patients w/ end-stage renal disease (CrCl <10 mL/min).
Special Precautions
Concomitant use w/ alcohol or substance w/ alcoholic ingredients, CNS drugs eg, benzodiazepines or antidepressants. Patients w/ predisposing factors of urinary retention eg, spinal cord lesion, prostatic hyperplasia. Galactose intolerance, Lapp-lactose deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Hepatic & renal impairment. Do not drive or operate machinery or working at risk of falling from a height. Pregnancy (1st trimester) & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, somnolence; nasopharyngitis; dry mouth; fatigue; cough.
Drug Interactions
Decreased clearance w/ theophylline. Increased exposure extent w/ ritonavir. Possible additive adverse CNS effects w/ alcohol.
