Erythromycin stearate
Indications/Uses
Resp tract, skin & soft tissue infections. Primary syphilis & gonorrhoea in patients allergic to penicillins.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 250-500 mg 6 hrly. Childn 30-50 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take at least 30 min-2 hr before meals.
Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Hepatic impairment.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances; allergic reactions; liver dysfunction; reversible deafness.
Drug Interactions
May potentiate action of carbamazepine, cyclosporin, theophylline & warfarin. Ergotamine increases risk of peripheral ischemia.
