Ispaghula husk
Indications/Uses
Haemorrhoids, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome, & any condition requiring a high fibre regimen.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 1 sachet bid (1 in the morning & 1 in the evening). Childn 6-12 yr ½-1 level 5 mL spoonful, <6 yr ½-1 level 5 mL spoonful.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Best taken immediately after meals. Stir the required amount into a glass of cold water (150 mL) & drink immediately. Do not take w/o water.
Contraindications
Intestinal obstruction & colonic atony eg, senile megacolon.
Special Precautions
Should be taken w/ sufficient fluid to prevent fecal impaction or esophageal obstruction.
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal discomfort, flatulence in large doses.
